Beautiful colorful work by Frans Slager
Representation of a horse and cart with a farmer behind it raking the hay into it. Many shades of brown have been used with some green accents.

Frédéric François (Frans) Slager ('s-Hertogenbosch, 23 April 1876 - Meerhout (Belgium), 1 May 1953) was a Dutch painter and draftsman. Slager drew and painted many Brabant landscapes, figures and cityscapes. He also wrote and illustrated. The St. John's Cathedral in Den Bosch was one of his favorite objects, which he depicted several times in etchings, watercolors, drawings and paintings. Slager was the second son of the Den Bosch artist Piet Slager Sr. He was a student of his father. Later, Slager worked as a student in Antwerp at the Academy of Fine Arts and also with Frans Van Leemputten. He lived and worked in 's-Hertogenbosch, but also travelled to France, Germany and Italy. Around 1920 he settled in Meerhout (Belgium), where he died in 1953. He was a member of the associations Arti et Amicitiae and the Artists' Association Sint Lucas and was married to the painter MPA van Gilse.
