Brothers Dick and Jaap Ravelli founded decorative art studio Ravelli & Co in 1942. Initially, tiles are produced and painted. In 1944 it officially became a pottery workshop where both cast and turned for the production of domestic pottery. In the fifties, Ravelli broke through internationally. They first focused on tableware, but they soon moved on to gifts such as small figurines in wooden boxes. In the 1960s, the focus shifted to vases and bowls. Keramobiles were also made, hanging planters that were also made of plastic due to their success. In the 1970s it was decided to close the company due to increasing competition and labor costs.
