Vadim Ovchinnikov(1951-1994) is one of the most prominent figures of the Leningrad underground, a member of the Experimental Fine Arts Society and the Free Culture Foundation, a member and theorist of the New Artists group. The exhibition of his paintings and the presentation of the book "Vadim Ovchinnikov. Labour" in 1998 - after the artist's death - the renovated Pushkinskaya 10 was opened. V.Ovchinnikov's works were repeatedly shown in the Russian Museum. In 1993 his personal exhibition took place in the Marble Palace, later his works were exhibited as part of the expositions "The Department of the Newest Currents. The First 5 Years" and "Abstraction in Russia. The Twentieth Century."
