Original woodblock print, published by Unsodo - Minagawa Taizo (1917-2005) - Moon and Country House - Heisei period (1989-present). Taizo Minagawa, who graduated from the Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts, is best known as a weaver and textile dyer, but he also created a number of special and unique woodblock designs. He carved the blocks and then printed them himself. His woodblock prints all provide a unique insight into this art form and his painting skills can be recognized by the colors he used. The moon is particularly special, with a silvery glow that really shines.

There is a small notch at the bottom left (outside the woodblock print). This is called “Kento”, and is characteristic of the publisher Unsodo when found in this place. Kento is the registration system traditionally used by Japanese woodblock artists to ensure that the different colours match each other properly (each colour is applied separately using a separate woodblock).

Signed - lower left in the art print, with the artist's seal.
