Pierre Devos was a son of Paul Ghislain Marie Joseph Devos (1876-....) and Sarah Ceuterick (1882-1964) and became the son-in-law of Constant Permeke when he married Beatty Permeke.
He received his artistic training from 1934 at the Academy of Tournai and at La Cambre (École Supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts Décoratifs de la Cambre) in Brussels, under the direction of Charles Counhaye. During his military service (1935) he stayed in Bruges and took lessons with Emile Rommelaere.
In 1940 he moved again to Oudenaarde and set up a studio there. In 1944 he met the ceramist Beatty Permeke (1916 - 1991), the daughter of Constant Permeke and whom he married in 1946.
He had a preference for figures, nudes and portraits. At first he was influenced by his father-in-law, but he evolved towards a stylized design and clean lines. His works were described as: sober, serene, poetic, clear and tender.
From 1954 he made ceramics and two years later he gave up sculpture to devote himself entirely to it. From 1960 he devoted himself exclusively to painting.
From 1945 to 1970, he often exhibited individually in Brussels, Bruges, Ghent, Kortrijk, Leuven and Ostend, among others. He also exhibited abroad: Hulst, Amsterdam, Rome, Milan and so on.
In 1945 he designed the sculpture 'The dying man' for the war memorial on the Markt in Houthulst. The statue was cast in 1946 by the Batardy brothers in Brussels.
His works can be found in the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art (SMAK) in Ghent, the Provincial Museum Constant Permeke in Jabbeke, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Tournai, the Palais Provincial de Namur, and so on.
