The Archaeopterix is a concept Panamarenko himself invented that is reflected in various art forms. His works embody the playful poetry of art and innovation.
As Panamarenko himself said: "I had been given a beautiful tree trunk by the city somewhere, because they wanted such a beautiful wooden bird. And now he is jumping on it. A crazy chick. It is a toy, and in fact I only make toys, because that is real art: the poetry of a toy. What others call real art looks too much like art, that is the problem. Art is namely the only vehicle of which one should try to stay out of the sphere of influence at all times, not to do what the power or those in power say: that is the essence of art. That is why I only like artists who have done that or still do that, such as Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman and Marcel Broodthaers.” according to Panamarenko
