Biografie Marinus Gidding
Marinus Gidding werd 23 mei 1863 geboren in Rotterdam, waar hij woonde tot hij zich in 1900 in Loosduinen bij Den Haag vestigde. Hij overleed op 7 april 1925 in deze stad. Hij stamt uit een kunstenaarsfamilie. Ook zijn broer Jan Gidding (1859-1914) en zijn neef Jaap (1887-1955) waren kunstschilder. In Rotterdam was hij leerling aan de kunstacademie en van J.H. Wijtkamp. Gidding schilderde, aquarelleerde en tekende in de trant van de Haagse School landschappen (duin-,polder- en weidegezichten), stadsgezichten, marines en stillevens. In Den Haag was Frederik Rackwitsz (1887-1972) zijn leerling.
