Very beautiful etching by the Belgian watercolorist, painter, draftsman and graphic artist Jan Keustermans (1917-2009). Born in Hoboken on August 14, 1917, he studied at the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. Keustermans began his career making scraperboards, symbolic and heraldic compositions scratched on a black background, in which he often included Kempen elements such as pine trees. Later he became more fascinated by etchings and minerals.
Many of his watercolours and etchings are pure evocations of the Kempen landscape. Keustermans worked mainly in Zoersel and was director of the Academy in Turnhout for a while.
