Georges Mazilu ' Le Comediens', 1996-Salon d' automne, signed, painting comes with a photo certificate.
Georges Mazilu (1951, Romania) holds a Master in Fine Arts from the Grigorescu Art Institute in Bucharest. In 1982 he moved to France, or as he himself says, he fled the socialist regime of Ceausescu. Some aspects of his work, the absurdity and the grotesque features, reflect his youth, in an environment that is absurd to him.

Mazilu is internationally known for his distinctive style, which combines contemporary surrealism with the Northern Renaissance. Executed by the hand of a master and imbued with a strange beauty, his paintings show fascinating figures, caught in contemplation or frozen in the middle of mysterious rituals.

His paintings are built up from abstract shapes, which gradually form images that show people and other recognizable shapes. In this process he allows his subconscious to participate and that influences the transformation from abstract to figurative representations. In this way the representations are a mirror of Mazilu's mind, without logic being able to thwart this. The last step in his work is to create the environment for the newly created beings. In this way he gives the beings their own world. Mazilu wants these worlds to reflect the complexity and psychological problems of our own environment.

The artist regularly participates in important Parisian art salons, such as the Salon de Figuration Critique and the Salon des Artistes Independants. He also exhibits frequently in Europe and the United States.
