A bird flies over African countries accompanied by an insect, straight out of the painter's Cobra period. Travelling artist Guillaume Corneille made a nod to his beginnings in 1999. His passion for Africa awoke very early in the forties when he decided to reproduce Paul Klee's trip to Tunisia. Fascinated by the lectures of Levi-Strauss and the first cinematographic reports on Africa, Guillaume Corneille and his first wife Henny Riemens began in 1956 the crazy project of crossing the continent in a jeep to be completely immersed in the different ethnic groups and landscapes.
