Very beautifully shaped (fruit) bowl from around 1950 by Alexandre de Wemmel, master ceramist. Originally from Odessa, but emigrated to Belgium, where he received his training. The bowl is beautifully glazed in a beautiful red color (it is called oxblood red) and characteristic of the artist are the turned handles. The bowl is in beautiful condition with light traces of use and a small chip on the upper edge (see last photo). Signed on the bottom with "Alexandre" and the text: Made in Belgium.
