    Information about the artist:
    Abraham / Abram Kro l (Pabianice, Lodz, Poland, January 22, 1919 – Paris, October 9, 2001), was a Polish/French painter, engraver and graphic artist.
    -Education: At the age of nineteen, in 1938, he left his native Poland for France. After two years of study at the Technical Institute for Civil Engineering in Caen, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon.
    In 1939, at the beginning of World War II, he joined the Foreign Legion. After being demobilized, he became a mechanic in a garage in Avignon. Although Jewish, he survived the war with false identities.
    In 1944 he moved to Paris. His first exhibition was in Paris in 1946 at the Katia Granoff Gallery.`
    Abraham Krol illustrated over twenty literary works from the late forties to the sixties. For example, he illustrated the book “Thésée” by André Gide from 1946 with 24 color woodcuts. He also engraved medals and tokens for the Paris Mint and painted murals for French schools. He also designed tapestries and painted over 200 enamel works. His work can be found in the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; the British Museum, London; Houghton Library at Harvard in Boston; Bodleian Library, Oxford and the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. In 1960 he was invited to exhibit at the Venice Biennale. He exhibited extensively all over the world and won many prizes.
