Some members of the artists' association Kunst Zij Ons Doel together founded the Doorwerken artists' association in Alkmaar. When the association was founded, the aim of the association was to serve beauty by practicing art. In addition, they want to encourage members to make art. The members of the association paint and exhibit together. Paintings are made both outdoors in nature and indoors in a studio.
