Académie des Beaux-Arts de l'Institut de France
The Académie des Beaux-Arts has known its name since 1803 and is one of the five institutions of the Institut de France. The other four institutions are the Académie Française, Académie des Sciences, Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Letters and Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques. The Académie des Beaux-Arts descends from the French royal academies founded in the seventeenth century. The academy's mission is to contribute to the protection, promotion and development of France's artistic heritage, while taking into account its different expressions.
