Pierre Struys (Alkmaar 1914 ? Lausanne 2001) exhibited for almost 30 years. His earlier work was inspired by the Hague School. In the last ten years before his death, his oil paintings developed towards a new, intense use of color. Struys paints nudes, seascapes and still lifes. Art dealers in Switzerland, Italy and France are looking for Struys' impressionist works because they are easy to sell. As a result, the works are rarely seen in the Netherlands. Struys has exhibited at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, the Van Straaten Gallery in New York and Mus_e Le Petit Palace in Geneva. Director Oscar Ghez of the latter museum regularly purchased work from him. Struys admired Willem de Kooning, became friends with him and worked with him for three months in his Studio.
