Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985)
Osvaldo Borsani was the son of Gaetano Borsani, the winner of a silver medal at the first Monza Triennial in 1927.
After studying at the Politecnico di Milano, graduating in 1937, he worked in his father's studio Arredamento Borsani, formerly Atelier Varedo, in Varedo.
In 1953 Osvaldo and twin brother Fulgenzio Borsani founded Tecno Italia. Tecno's collection includes designs by world famous designers such as Sir Norman Foster, Gae Aulenti, Emilio Ambasz and of course Osvaldo Borsani. During the early years of Tecno, this company was famous for its experiments with new materials such as rubber and foam rubber. From 1952 until his death in 1985, borsani was the principal designer of this leading company. The Tecno-Iogo, a large 'T', was designed in collaboration with Robert Mango and was first used at the Milan Triennale in 1954.
