Jacques Monory (1924)

Jacques Monory (1924)

Jacques Monory is a French painter, born on June 25, 1924 in Paris, living and working in Cachan.

After training as a painter and decorator at the School of Applied Arts in Paris, Jacques Monory spent ten years working for the art editor Robert Delpire, where he came into contact with the world of photography.

It is one of the most important representatives of the movement of narrative figuration which, in the mid-1960s, contrasted with abstract painting with painters Herve Telemaque, Erro, Rancillac, Peter Klasen, Eduardo Arroyo, Valerio Adami and Gerard Fromanger. .

Deeply concerned about the violence of everyday reality, Monory's tables suggest a heavy and menacing atmosphere. The themes are developed through a series and images he uses are taken directly from contemporary society. Photographic and cinematographic borrowings, the use of black and white, the coolness of the key and its composition characterize a unique style and involved in the execution, and often bathed in a blue black and white.
