Ettore Sottsass started his career as an architecture student at the Technical School in Turin. In 1947 he started his first design agency: the Studio. Sottsass has had a very rich working period in which he collaborated with George Nelson, Olivetti, William Hunter, Alessi, and many others. He also gave guest lectures at the Royal College of Art in London. Sottsass had a very strong opinion about design and anti-design. He was a member of Radical Design and co-founder of Global Tools. He is perhaps best known as the co-founder and foreman of Memphis. He made colorful and very recognizable designs for the group. Sottsass was inspired by people and cultures from all over the world.
