Auguste Danse (1829-1919)
Auguste DANSE (Brussels 1829-1929) Draftsman, etcher and engraver, student at the Brussels Academy (1854-1857). Medal engraver, designer of stained glass windows, playing cards and fabrics for workshops in Ghent. Art teacher at the Academy of Mons where he founds the engraving department and becomes a teacher (1882-1897). He trains numerous engravers. Auguste Danse is best known for his etchings after old masters and important contemporaries. Member of the Royal Academy (1903). Works in numerous print rooms.
