Annetje van Verseveld studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. The dance is an important source of inspiration; her work from the beginning of this century therefore consists of a series of dancers. Horses and amazons with dancing horses appeared in her earlier work. Nature became the inspiration for her stone sculptures. Under the hands of Verseveld, shell-like shapes and round organic shapes have been created in which the light can sing around, so to speak, shapes that could have washed up from the sea or a river.
