Born in Kent (county) in 1966, died in Strathclyde Region in 2008.

Education:

Fairhurst studied at the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury from 1985 to 1986, after which he continued his education at Goldsmiths College in London. In 1989 he graduated in Fine Art. (The same year as Damien Hirst, whom he was good friends with and would later collaborate with).

In his work, Angus Fairhurst experimented with different types of media, such as photography, video and painting. He is most famous for his sculptures of gorillas.

Exhibitions and prizes:

  • Freeze, 1988 (In collaboration with Damien Hurst, Gary Hume and Sarah Lucas)
  • Apocalypse, 2001 at the Royal Academy
  • 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' in the Tate Britain, 2004 (In collaboration with Damien Hurst and Sarah Lucas)
